The new Jungle gates

The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah recently acquired an adjacent property known as The Jungle which contains a parcel of pristine rainforest.

The Jungle is one of the few easily accessible patches of rainforest in the Blue Mountains. As visitors soak up the beauty of this ancient forest, they can learn how plants adapt to low light, and about the animals that live here such as greater gliders, possums and powerful owls.

The acquisition of this land opens up exciting opportunities for the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust as it approaches its bicentenary in 2016. With plans for a tree top walk and new botanical displays, families have more opportunities to enjoy our Blue Mountains forests in safety and comfort.

The Jungle was just the beginning of creating a new gateway to the Blue Mountains at the Garden. The Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Exhibition Centre, funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments was opened in 2010. Visitors may take a virtual tour of canyons and forests, learn about rare plants and the amazing eucalypt diversity, then explore for themselves in The Jungle.
