At this time of the year, officially Winter, a perfect patchwork of vibrant colour can be seen from the Visitor centre viewing deck. Many of these autumn beauties were planted in the 1930's by Alfred and Effie Brunet, who so generously donated the land upon which this garden has been developed.

For those of us who think 'outside the square', the camellia-like trees to the left of this photograph are the closely-related Gordonia axillaris and to the right of the photograph you can see many proteas.
